Where do I store my data?
The SCC provides storage space via:
- Your home folder (
/home/scc_x_123456). These are always on SSDs. - Group and Project folders:
- HDD based storage for larger data sets:
/mnt/ceph/groups_hdd - SSD based storage for faster access:
/mnt/ceph/groups_ssd
The home folder is intended for small files, scripts, and configuration files. It is going to have a relatively small quota (e.g., 50GB) and cannot be expanded.
The group and project folders on the other hand are intended for larger data sets. Groups and Projects can buy additional storage space if needed. The price list for this is going to be published soon.
How do I access my group / project folder(s)?
Each group and project that is created on the SCC gets a folder in both /mnt/ceph/groups_hdd and /mnt/ceph/groups_ssd.
Group folders are in the subfolder SCCGroup and project folders in the subfolder SCCProject.
So, if you are part of the group called ag_meier, your group folders are located at:
- HDD:
/mnt/ceph/groups_hdd/SCCGroup/ag_meier - SSD:
/mnt/ceph/groups_ssd/SCCGroup/ag_meier
All members of the group have read and write access to these folders. It is the responsibility of the group members to organize access and permissions within the group.
